Valentine’s Day is a special day, long awaited also by lovers of physical activity. Every year there are many sports events organized on the occasion of the holiday of love. It will be no different in 2021 – in connection with the loosening of restrictions from Friday, February 12, amateurs of various disciplines will soon be able to return to social competition!
The St.Valentine’s Day Run in Dąbrowa Górnicza is known as one of the most popular races in the south of Poland and each time it attracts crowds of athletics fans from many regions of the country. This year’s competition will take a slightly different shape, because the race has been moved to the virtual world. From 14th February to 5th March the competitors have to cover the distance of at least 5 km on their own. Because of the change in the format of the competition, this time there will be no general classification, and each participant will receive a commemorative medal.
To register for the race, just go to the website dostartu.pl, find the race you are interested in and then fill in the registration form. The entry fee is PLN 30 and is non-refundable.
Another noteworthy event is the Valentine’s Day Nordic Walking Rally, which will start on February 14 at 9:00 am by the castle on the water in Wojnowice. The primary objective of this event is to popularize the discipline of Nordic Walking and above all to promote an active lifestyle. What is important, participation is completely free of charge, and the struggle is only a social event, so the only thing that participants need to take care of is suitable clothing, equipment, good mood and desire to experience an unforgettable adventure. Applications can be made through the Facebook event group or by phone at 603 447 003.
You can spend Valentine’s Day actively, and at the same time help those in need, which is what the members of the “Skórzec Runs” Running Group warmly encourage you to do. On the weekend of 13th-14th February, from 12:00 noon, a New Year’s-Valentine’s Day Charity Run will be held in Nowa Dąbrówka. As usual the aim of the event is noble – this time the organizers support the purchase of the expensive mobile ultrasound machine for the foundation Siedlce Children’s Home Hospice.
The initiators of this undertaking stress that the march will by no means be a virtual event, and its participants will cover a real route. One can run or march 7 or 12 km with poles, according to one’s choice. Interestingly, a special route for married couples has been prepared – as befits a run on the Lovers’ Day!
