Can anyone become a hunter?
Theoretically yes, any person of age can become a hunter – however, they have to meet a number of requirements. First of all, you have to serve an internship in the Polish Hunting Association. This is a twelve-month period, during which you can learn about hunting and decide whether you are ready to take the course. Positive completion of the internship entitles you to participate in the course for new members. The final step is to successfully pass an exam consisting of three parts – written, oral and practical. After passing each of these parts you can become a member of the Polish Hunting Association and apply for a gun permit.
What types of hunting weapons are there?
When choosing a hunting weapon, first of all you have to determine its type. The choices include:
– pellet guns,
– combination weapons.
Each of the aforementioned types of weapons used for hunting has slightly different characteristics. One of the most popular solutions, which is still widely used today, is a shotgun. With its help one can hunt a small animal, such as a hare. It also works well during bird hunting.
Another option is a rifle. This is a ball weapon, which allows you to hunt larger game. The third type of weapon, which is a combination weapon, includes equipment consisting of three barrels. Two of them are designed for shot, and one – for bullets (sometimes the reverse arrangement is also encountered). This solution is universal, as it allows you to hunt both large and small game.
New or used weapon – which one to choose?
New weapons for hunting purposes can be purchased in specialized stores. Each person who wants to buy such a weapon, must show a permit to own it. Buying new equipment, you can be sure of its reliability. In the case of used weapons, you need to pay attention to the degree of wear. If it is badly deteriorated, then the precise use of it may be significantly hampered, which in turn will have a very negative impact on the comfort of use. Used weapons are of course cheaper than the new ones. It is this argument that convinces mainly people who are just beginning their adventure with hunting. If someone does not have clearly defined preferences concerning the weapon, then buying used equipment, he can try different options available on the market, until he finally finds one that meets his expectations.
What to look for when choosing a hunting weapon?
There is no fooling – a big role when choosing a hunting weapon is played by its price. The cost of purchase, especially of a new gun, is quite high, so every decision should be well thought out. The key factor in making a choice should be the nature of the fishery where you will most often hunt. If you want to save a little money, you may be tempted to buy a second-hand weapon, but in order to avoid disappointment, you need to assess its condition well, and preferably try it out before buying.
