Until recently, Poles were outdoing themselves with ideas of how to spend their holiday time in the most creative way. However, all good things quickly come to an end. Soon after the summer and vacations will be left only a memory, although this does not mean that now we should lock ourselves inside four walls and count down the next months to the next July-August kanikuły. On the contrary – you can still find plenty of interesting destinations that will allow you to forget about autumn boredom.

Active leisure at a premium

In view of the difficult situation in the world, the cause of which is, of course, the COVID-19 pandemic, people began to feel an increasing need to move, and many of them “apologized” with sport. The national quarantine, during which people occasionally left the comfort of their homes, especially contributed to this. Statistics show that we are tired of sitting on the sofa or armchair, so a large proportion of holidaymakers decide to make active use of their vacations, even after the end of the calendar summer. The number of requests for accommodation in the analyzed period increased by 191% compared to the previous year! Let’s take a look at some of the most interesting destinations for autumn 2020.

Unsurprisingly, the most popular end-of-year travel destination is Małopolskie Voivodeship. However, it is not Krakow that attracts the biggest crowds at this time. More and more tourists choose to hike the mountain trails of the Tatra Mountains, the Beskidy Mountains, or the Pieniny Mountains – Zakopane is obviously the king here. Not far behind are Szczawnica and Białka Tatrzańska. Trekking is becoming more and more popular among Poles, but it is hardly surprising. The views offered by Polish mountains are really breathtaking and more than compensate for previous climbing to the top. The journey itself is often painful, but it also gives a lot of satisfaction. Trekking fans will also be interested in the Podkarpackie and Dolnośląskie provinces, in particular Wetlin and the resorts in the Karkonosze Mountains, that is Karpacz and Szklarska Poreba. They are very popular this year and their landscapes are nothing like those in Zakopane.

The beach and the sea are usually associated only with summer holidays. But why not go there in the autumn, while taking advantage of the peace and quiet of the Baltic Sea at this time of year? Many Poles have asked themselves this question, after all West Pomerania and Pomerania are currently not complaining about a lack of tourists. Among the most desirable tourist destinations in both these regions are invariably dominated by Międzyzdroje, Kołobrzeg, as well as Władysławowo, Gdańsk and Sopot. It goes without saying that a holiday by the sea is a great option for those who love physical activity and will not sit too long in one place. In Międzyzdroje there is even a Municipal Sports Activity Zone, which includes beach soccer and beach volleyball fields. In this way, holidaymakers have the opportunity to enjoy a bit of sport while spending time with family and friends in the stunning surroundings of the Baltic Sea.

It is clear that Poles are increasingly resigning from large cities in favor of smaller and more secluded corners. After a whole year of living in a hustle and bustle, for many the best way to reset is to spend a week or two away from the urban sights that accompany them every day. Another important issue when choosing a place to relax, especially at this time of year, is sport – it is well known that the best rest is active rest.

What about abroad?

You can spend your vacation intensively also abroad. Certainly those who decide on Egypt will not complain about boredom. This is an excellent choice primarily for snorkeling enthusiasts – the simplest form of observation of underwater life. Just put on the fins, mask and floating on the surface of the water you can observe the fascinating sea creatures. Snorkeling is also a great alternative for those who are not convinced to dive and do not feel comfortable being immersed up to the ears in the depths.

When it comes to tourism abroad, in addition to the already mentioned Egypt, interesting in this regard are also countries such as Greece and Italy. Walking tours of Crete or Rome is a great opportunity to feel the atmosphere of these charming places and at the same time work on your fitness. One thing is certain – the weather conditions in each of the mentioned countries are without a doubt favorable for all kinds of outdoor sports!
